Our Story

Jonathan and Megan met in Oban- two doctors brought together by fate, circumstance, and the fact that Jonathan was the only man in Oban with all his teeth. Naturally, Megan saw potential.

Between night shifts, bad coffee and the breathtaking scenery (mostly Megan), they realised they were onto something good. Good enough, in fact, that they moved to Dundee together, and eventually settled in Invergowrie- where the neighbours still think they’re far more organised than they actually are.

Since, they’ve built a life full of love, laughter, egregious tiramisu consumption and debates about who was wrong (spoiler: Jonathan). And now, as they get ready to say “I do,” Jonathan looks forward to spending the rest of his life doing what he does best:

annoying Megan… lovingly, consistently, and with great enthusiasm.

She’s thrilled. Allegedly.

Megan Grace Baty

The brains of the operation, Meg enjoys keeping Jonathan alive, correcting his stories, and maintaining the household’s actual standards.
Known for her kindness, patience, and ability to diagnose nonsense instantly, she is the glue that prevents their life from becoming a sitcom.

Jonathan Adrian Ritchie

He spends his free time losing things, mucking out horses, making Megan sigh dramatically, and insisting he definitely did turn the oven off.
He is extremely excited to marry Megan- partly for love, partly for the dowry of 3 horses.

The most iconic duo since gin and tonic.

Accommodation

Murthly Castle is surrounded by beautiful countryside, so there are plenty of lovely places to stay nearby. Dunkeld is only a short drive away and has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and Airbnbs. We recommend booking early, July is a busy time in Highland Perthshire!

Documentation

Please keep any travel or accommodation confirmations handy for your own arrangements. For the wedding itself, no documents are required, just your outfit, your smile and your commitment to conquering the ceilidh. A quick note on transport- guests will need to arrange their own way home at the end of the night. Taxis in the area can be limited, so we strongly recommend booking well in advance to avoid being stranded in full Black Tie under the Scottish moonlight.

What to Wear

Our wedding is Black Tie- think your most elegant formalwear. Kilts are very welcome (and strongly encouraged). A small note for the ladies: please avoid stilettos for a number of reasons: to protect the church floor and parts of the grounds are grass or gravel. We’d rather you didn’t sink dramatically upon arrival! For the evening: shoes for ceilidh dancing are a must!

Celebration

We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you at Murthly Castle. Expect good food, great music, a ceilidh that will test your cardiovascular fitness and plenty of laugh-inducing moments. We’ll raise a glass, dance until we're dizzy and make memories we probably shouldn’t put on the internet. Your only job: enjoy the day with us, fully and wholeheartedly.

Parking Area

There is ample parking within the Murthly Castle grounds. When you arrive, a parking attendant will be on hand to direct you to the correct area, so please follow their guidance on the day.

Food & Drinks

We’ve worked with the catering team to create a menu we absolutely love- great food, great drinks, and plenty to keep everyone fuelled for a full night of dancing. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, there will be a full selection list on the wedding invite RSVP, where you can let us know what you need. Please make sure to fill this in so everything can be arranged in advance. Come hungry, come thirsty, and save room for cake!
